Giving life everywhere that we go.

This is less about where we go and ALL about WHO we go with. We desire to bring the reality of Jesus Christ everywhere that we go. Jesus said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Jesus is already at work in the World & we would not even begin to pretend that we are bringing Him somewhere that He is not already working. Through every mission trip we will encourage, support, and lift up those who are serving tirelessly in the location we are traveling to, whether that means Mexico, Washington D.C., New York City, or Williamsburg.

Washington D.C., February 17-19, 2012 | Blog 5.

On Friday night we went to Z-Burger for dinner and got to talk with Blythe and Steve Scott. It was really fun to get to hear their story and hang out with them. They talked about their own personal life and how they felt called to move from Fredericksburg to Washington D.C. Steve is a now fifth grade teacher in a title-one elementary school and Blythe works as the outreach director at The District Church. Steve took time to share from his unique position as a fifth grade teacher. He shared about the difficult situation that most of his kids face, as most of them come from single-parented homes. He mentioned how in the end all his kids are looking for is attention, whether it be positive or negative. They are willing to do anything for attention. One of the things he said that shocked me the most was that most kids don’t even dream of going to college. They don’t expect to do anything different or live anywhere different because that is all they know. They don’t have dreams and if they do, they don’t think they are capable of making them happen. Steve and Blythe are trying to change that, through the clubs they hold or by simply praying for them, their love for them can’t help but rub off on you and make you love kids you have never even met.

Blythe and Steve have stepped out of their comfort zones and moved to D.C. but even though we, as middle schoolers cannot join them and move to the inner city, they challenged and encouraged us to step out of our comfort zones in our schools, homes, churches, and communities.
